Service providers in the territory of the Republic of Croatia who, within the scope of their activities, publicly use musical works / performances by performing artists / recorded sound carriers (phonograms) and other subject matters protected by copyright and/or related rights must, before commencing their activities, request authorisation to use these subject matters of protection, as such use is generally subject to payment of appropriate remuneration to the right holders, in accordance with the Copyright and Related Rights Act (CRRA).
Such activities may involve:
- broadcasting organisations (national radio and TV stations and commercial radio and TV stations)
- cable operators
- internet platforms and services
- organisers of concerts and festivals
- discotheques, clubs
- hotels
- cafes, restaurants, pastry shops, buffets
- carriers
- dance schools
- studios for sports and recreation
- shops and other business premises
- beauty salons, massage parlours, hair salons
- wedding planners
- amusement parks
- cinemas
- museums, galleries, exhibitions
- manufacturers or importers of blank sound, image or text media, and of audio and visual recording devices (Art. 184 of the CRRA)
- users of digital jukeboxes
- DJs
Before starting to use the subject matter of protection, it is necessary to submit a request for authorisation to use a specific type of subject matter of protection to the appropriate collective management organisation.

Association for Protection, Collection and Distribution of Phonogram Producers’ Rights (ZAPRAF), Zagreb, Radnička cesta 54/III - carries out the activity of collective management of phonogram producers’ rights, and

Association for the Protection of Publishers’ Rights (ZANA), Zagreb, Amruševa 10 - carries out the activity of collective management of publishers’ rights of written editions to remuneration for copying for private use, and

Those liable to pay the fee and who should contact this association are natural and legal persons who provide photocopying services or similar reproduction techniques for a fee, as well as manufacturers and importers of photocopying devices and similar devices that achieve the effect of reproduction.
Society for the Protection of Journalists’ Copyright (DZNAP), Zagreb, Perkovčeva 2 - carries out the activity of collective management of journalists’ copyright.
Those liable to pay the fee and who should contact this society are e.g.,
press clipping agencies.
Croatian Film Directors’ Guild (DHFR), Zagreb, Boškovićeva 23 - carries out the activity of collective management of copyright for authors of audio-visual works (except for music composers) and related rights of audio-visual producers, and

Both users and those liable to pay the fee who should contact this association for authorisation to use subject matters of protections are e.g., cable operators and producers and importers of sound and visual recording devices and blank sound, image or text carriers.
Croatian Writers’ Association (DHK), Zagreb, Trg bana Josipa Jelačića 7/I - carries out the activity of collective management of rights for writers, translators and illustrators of literary works.
Croatian Audiovisual Performers’ Collecting Society (AVIP), Zagreb, Amruševa 19/III - carries out the activity of collective management of rights of audiovisual performers.
Press Publishers’ Association (UNIP), Zagreb, Ribnjak 40 - carries out the activity of collective management of rights of press publishers.
