Consumer protection
Consumer protection is an important element of improving the quality of life for citizens. It aims to ensure that, in their daily lives, consumers can fully benefit from a high level of protection across all sectors.
In the European Single Market, consumers have the right to a free choice of products and services, to safe products and services, to accurate and truthful information about the content and quality of products, as well as to clear, understandable, and transparent contractual terms. Consumers also have the right to protection from unfair commercial practices (misleading and aggressive), as well as an option to effectively resolve domestic and cross-border complaints and disputes.
Central Consumer Portal and toll-free telephone line
It is important to inform and educate consumers so that they can make rational decisions when purchasing products and services and effectively use available tools in situations where one of their consumer rights has been denied. For this purpose, the Central Consumer Portal is available to consumers, offering an overview of key consumer topics, information, and current events all in one place.
In accordance with the implemented public tender “Consumer Empowerment”, the Ministry of the Economy has concluded funding agreements with consumer protection associations from the State budget of the Republic of Croatia. These agreements are for the purpose of providing free professional information to consumers and protecting their economic interests when dealing with traders.
Consumer enquiries are received by consumer protection associations:
